Install in three steps

  1. Open the installer

    Double-click FCPX-Headstart.dmg in your Downloads folder.

  2. Drag the app to Applications

    Drag FCPX Headstart onto the Applications shortcut in the window that opens, then eject the installer.

  3. Open it

    Start the app from Applications. Your 7-day trial begins on first launch.

On first launch

The app downloads its speech model once, about 1.4 GB, so allow a few minutes on a good connection. If you choose API mode you are asked for your own Anthropic API key, which is stored in your Mac's Keychain. Local mode needs no key. When you want to send a project to Final Cut Pro, macOS asks once to allow automation: click OK.

Bought a license?

Open the app and click Enter license key in the bar at the top, then paste the key from your purchase email.

Requirements

A Mac with macOS 12 or later and Final Cut Pro. Apple Silicon (M1 or later) is highly recommended, because local transcription is compute intensive. Lighter models for older Macs are on the way.
